Poetry on the (Football) Pitch

Julie McNeill Hamish MacDonald Thomas Clark Jim Mackintosh

Saturday 5th November

5:00 pm - 5:50 pm

Many wouldn’t think of poetry and football as likely pals, but Scotland has long been a country which celebrates the two side-by-side. In this panel event, we have some of the country’s most infamous football poets: Julie McNeill, who is the Makar for The Scottish Women’s National Football Team Poets Society; Hamish MacDonald, the Bankies Bard – official poet in residence for Clydebank Football Club; and Thomas Clark, the Poet in Residence at Selkirk FC. This discussion focuses on how the sport and the artform come together to collide, collaborate, and spark creativity. Chaired by poet-of-the-footballers legend, Jim Mackintosh, this is an event not to be missed by sport or poetry fans alike.
